What factors affect the cost?
The cost ranges from $500 to $1,500. This includes the cost of materials and a standard surface-mounted installation.
If you would prefer a recessed installation, this would translate to higher costs as this would require new moulding and drilling, as well as increased installation effort. Set aside an additional $200 to $400 if you’d like a recessed door.
The prices quoted above also assume that your door moulding is in good condition. If your door frame is old and damaged, the door will not serve its purpose effectively. Expect to pay an additional $350 for the repair or replacement of your door frame prior to the installation.
What provider you choose is also a consideration. Some providers will simply charge more than others. It’s best to look for factory-direct prices in the beginning and pay for a premium installation.
Can I DIY a front door security installation?
It’s tempting to snap up a door from Bunnings and attach it yourself, but there’s always the risk of getting the wrong type, wrong size, or leaving gaps in your installation.
It’s easy to assume that the door will do its job no matter what, but even the most substantial stainless steel frame won’t make a difference if it hasn’t been installed correctly. Installing this type of door requires engineering and precision, and we don’t recommend that you DIY it lest you compromise the ability of your door to protect you from intruders because of improper installation.
Hiring a professional installer not only saves you time and energy but provides a warranty so you can rest assured of your safety. Suppliers of quality products will offer reduced fees for the installation, which is an added benefit. However, if you are installing a heavy duty front door security screen, then two people might be needed. This could add to the installation costs.
What’s the most significant benefit of choosing a police-licensed company?
In WA, choosing a police-licensed installer means you can sleep easy knowing your home is safe no matter where you are. As police-licensed installers, we bring professionalism, insurance coverage, and a product warranty of up to 10 years. You can learn more about the benefits of choosing a police-licensed company through our blog here.
Can our security products be broken into?
Not all security products are created equally. What sets apart a normal security screen door and one that’s compliant with the Australian Standards is that it provides a certain measure of protection against the following:
- A knife or sharp object cutting through the screen
- Physical impacts such as kicking or shoulder charging
- A screwdriver or jemmy prying the door open
- Pulling off the screen
- Probing through the grilles to reach the lock
- Pliers cutting through the screen
While Australian Standards certified security products can still be broken into, they are near impenetrable and will take a massive amount of time and effort to puncture through.
Will my security products rust?
For general cases, no. Our security products are medium and high-level corrosion resistant and have a high-quality powder-coated finish. Cleaning and caring for the door regularly through the instructions on the manual will prevent the door from corroding. Beach proximity, however, can result in door rusting over time.
How do I keep my front door secure?
Below are some of the steps you can take to secure your home.
#1. Get high-quality security products with triple lock from a local and reputable manufacturer
#2. Lock your doors all the time
#3. Get a police-licensed team to check your property’s weak points and ask for their recommendation on how you can best protect your property.
