Stainless Steel Mesh Security Screen
What is a stainless steel mesh?
A stainless steel wire mesh is simply a stainless steel wire used as a form of protective fencing to enclose boundaries. It can protect your home, farm, or commercial property from outside interferences including animals, people, and natural elements. It also provides a neat boundary line for property ownership and can be used to keep animals inside a range or children from moving beyond a certain point. The mesh also has use for internal security to make doors and windows even more secure.
What are the different types of steel mesh?
Mesh is classified by the space between the wires, the thickness of the wire, the weight of the wire, and the dimensions (height and length) of the overall sheet or mesh. You can customise the mesh to your exact proportions and dimensions and we are happy to do this. Different types will have different applications. Stainless steel can be classified by the amount of carbon it has. If it has less than 0.3% carbon, it is known as L-Grade. It will also be classified as either 304 or 316.
What is the difference between 304 and 316 stainless steel mesh?
304 and 316 are the two most common types, which itself has a large variety of applications. Stainless steel is an alloy. This means that it is a mix of different metals. Stainless steel 304 contains 18% chromium along with 8% nickel. In contrast, stainless steel 316 contains 16% chromium, 10% nickel, and 2% molybdenum. This ultimately means that 316 is more durable, less corrosive, stronger, and longer-lasting. It will also be priced a little more expensively. To compare the two, you would not be able to notice the difference visually.
What are the benefits of using stainless steel?
Stainless steel has a lot of benefits as a security product. It has a wide variety of applications. Stainless steel has high corrosion resistance. It can withhold its strength at extreme temperatures, which is important given the higher temperatures in Perth. It has a bright, shiny, metallic surface. It is very affordable given the low level of maintenance and its longevity. All in all, it is pretty much the perfect security feature and is a remarkably versatile product.
What standards govern wire mesh?
We are fully compliant when it comes to the myriad of different rules and regulations surrounding stainless steel wire mesh. We test our products rigorously to ensure they are up to speed as per the National Authority of Testing Australia (‘NATA’), the most prominent standards authority in the country. The most relevant standards for wire mesh include:
- AS 2423 2002 – Coated Steel Wire Fencing Products For Terrestrial, Aquatic And General Use.
- AS 1725.2010 Parts 1-5 – Chain Link Fabric Fencing.
- AS/NZS 4534:2006 – Zinc And Zinc/Aluminium-alloy Coatings On Steel Wire.
- AS/NZS 4680:2006 – Hot-dip Galvanized (Zinc) Coatings On Fabricated Ferrous Articles.
If all of this sounds a little technical, just rest assured that all of the Perth Homeguard products have been tested so they are extremely resistant to heat, cold, movement, bush fires, sharp objects and all other typical means of intrusion or corrosion. They are resilient and built to last.
We have done all the tests necessary to provide the best quality stainless steel mesh in Perth.
